Your face is an essential part of your identity. If it appears worn out, tired, or constantly “droopy,” it can make you appear older than you truly are, impacting your self-confidence and overall quality of life. A facelift can help you restore a fresher, more youthful facial appearance that better reflects your true personality.
However, a facelift may not be the solution for everyone. Dr. Lefkovits will evaluate whether or not you are a good facelift candidate by evaluating several different factors, such as:
- Skin condition – The ideal facelift candidate has skin that is still elastic and flexible. Facelift surgery requires your skin to stretch to remove wrinkles and repair loose areas.
- Bone structure – The underlying structure of your face needs to be well-defined in order for it to provide long-lasting support for the facelift alterations that Dr. Lefkovits makes.
- General health – You must be in good overall health and free of major medical conditions in order to heal properly from a facelift procedure.
In the end, a good candidate for facelift surgery has a realistic understanding of what this procedure can accomplish. While facelifts are capable of producing dramatic results, they can’t make you look like someone else, and the amount of change they can achieve in each unique case is limited. If Dr. Lefkovits decides you are not a strong candidate for a facelift, you can still take advantage of non-surgical cosmetic procedures such as BOTOX®.

As you age, your facial skin will inevitably begin to wrinkle – but for many people, this is worsened by sagging and loose skin, making them look worn out and haggard all the time. If your face looks considerably older than you feel, you may benefit from facelift surgery. A facelift procedure can help restore a younger-looking, more attractive appearance to your face, better reflecting your true personality.
In most cases, the following areas of the face can be repaired during a facelift:
- Forehead
- Midface (from your eyes to your mouth)
- Lower face and neck area
Many times, midface and lower facelifts/necklifts are combined into one procedure, but a targeted midface lift may be used for patients who only need to address this area. Generally, a brow lift is performed separately from a facelift, and is occasionally used as a complement to blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery).

Once you decide to move forward with your breast augmentation, you will have a series of decisions to make about the details of your procedure. Breast augmentation placement is one of the most important decisions you will need to consider. Submuscular placement involves inserting your breast implants below, or under, your chest muscles.
Submuscular breast implant placement comes with some distinct advantages, including:
- Reduced risk of rippling
- Reduced risk of capsular contracture
- Less implant visibility
- Strong internal support
If you have thin natural breast tissue, Dr. Lefkovits may recommend submuscular placement to hide the edges of your implants, creating a more natural look and feel. The main disadvantages of submuscular placement are a longer recover time, and a feeling of pressure when you exercise your pectoral muscles. All of these factors and more will be taken into account when Dr. Lefkovits helps you choose the placement option that best meets your needs.

If you have overlarge breasts that cause physical pain and seem out of proportion with your body, you may be a candidate for a breast reduction. Large breasts not only come with a certain degree of self-consciousness and embarrassment – they can also cause significant physical problems for women, including:
- Neck pain
- Back pain
- Shoulder pain
- Bad posture
- Irritation and chafing (from bra straps)
Because of these medical issues, many insurance companies will cover all or some of the cost of breast reduction surgery. In order to be a good breast reduction candidate, you should be in good overall health and free of major medical conditions. You should also have relatively elastic skin so it can tighten over the new, smaller shape of your breasts after surgery.
Blood clotting disorders, diabetes, and other types of medical conditions can prevent you from being a good breast reduction candidate. Dr. Lefkovits will evaluate your current health and medical history to determine whether or not this procedure is right for you.
If you live in New York and have further questions about breast reduction, please contact New York City Board Certified plastic surgeon Dr. George Lefkovits today to schedule your consultation at Park Plaza Plastic Surgery. You can also reach us by phone at (212) 750-9494.

The goal of any breast augmentation is to enhance the overall appearance of your breasts. Because of this, it’s understandable why many women are concerned about scarring after surgery. Visible scars can detract from the positive cosmetic results of a breast augmentation – or so some women fear.
Although it is impossible to completely avoid scars after breast augmentation, Dr. Lefkovits uses a wide range of techniques to not only minimize the appearance of your scars, but to hide their location on your body, making them virtually invisible. The main breast augmentation incisions Dr. Lefkovits uses are:
- Inframammary – The most common option, made in the crease on the underside of your breast. This location is best when used in women with moderate-sized breasts that cover the fold well. If your breasts are smaller, the scar may be more visible.
- Periareolar – A very small incision made in the dark area of your nipple, called the areola, in order to minimize its visibility. Used for saline breast implants, since they are deflated before placement and can fit through the smaller incision.
At all times, Dr. Lefkovits uses meticulous techniques during surgery to limit the overall amount of scarring. He also practices strict anti-infection protocols to reduce the odds of infection, which can contribute to excess scarring.

Every year, BOTOX® Cosmetic remains one of the most popular wrinkle reduction treatments in America. The convenience and effectiveness of BOTOX® makes it easy to improve your look in a single 15-20 minute session, but BOTOX® results do not last forever. In order to keep enjoying the effects of BOTOX®, you will need to receive follow-up injections on a regular basis.
Your first BOTOX® treatment should last anywhere from 3 to 4months. Some of our patients prefer to wait until the effects of BOTOX® have completely worn off before coming back for a repeat injection, but others return to Dr. Lefkovits at the first sign of wrinkles. When you receive your follow-up injection will be up to you.
Repeat injections do not make BOTOX® any less effective. While an incredibly small percentage of patients – one in every 10,000 – can develop a resistance to BOTOX® treatment, this number is so insignificant that studies have not been performed to determine why a resistance might occur. If you do happen to develop a rare resistance to BOTOX®, Dr. Lefkovits offers other non-surgical cosmetic procedures and injectables as an alternative.
If you live in New York and have further questions about BOTOX®, please contact New York City cosmetic surgeon Dr. George Lefkovits today to schedule your consultation at Park Plaza Plastic Surgery. You can also reach us by phone at (212) 750-9494.

Some breast augmentation patients with thin or minimal breast tissue experience an aesthetic complication called “bottoming out”. This condition occurs most often when a woman’s breast implants are placed above the chest muscle and do not have adequate skin coverage. This can cause the implants to settle too low on your chest, and your nipple will appear too high on the breast mound.
In order to avoid bottoming out, Dr. Lefkovits will help you select breast implants that are of an appropriate size and weight. He will take into consideration the thickness of your existing breast tissue and the placement method you prefer when making a recommendation. Additionally, Dr Lefkovits takes care during surgery to avoid over-dissection of the breast pocket, striving to provide long-lasting aesthetic results that patients can enjoy for many years to come.
If bottoming out does occur, it can be corrected through a follow-up procedure where Dr. Lefkovits moves scar tissue from the bottom of your breast pocket up to a new, higher breast fold.

Although breast implants do not technically have an expiration date, they won’t last forever. Like any medical device, breast implants will eventually start to wear out and break down inside your body. When a breast implant leaks (called a “rupture”) or causes complications like capsular contracture, it is important to have the implant replaced.
If your breast augmentation was performed decades ago – for example, in the ‘80s or ‘90s – it might be high time for you to inspect your breast implants and have them replaced. Even if a rupture has not occurred yet, many people want to take advantage of the superior aesthetic quality of modern breast implants. Today’s silicone gel implants come with several advantages over old breast implants, such as:
- Looks and feels more like natural breast tissue
- Lower rate of capsular contracture
- Less likely to rupture
If your old breast implants are hard on your chest, or if your doctor has informed you that a rupture has occurred, now is the best time to have your implants replaced so you can enjoy the many benefits of modern breast implants.
If you live in New York and have further questions about replacing old breast implants, please contact New York City cosmetic surgeon Dr. George Lefkovits today to schedule your consultation at Park Plaza Plastic Surgery. You can also reach us by phone at (212) 750-9494.

Laser skin resurfacing is a revolutionary new anti-aging technique that Dr. Lefkovits can use to improve the appearance of wrinkles, scars, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation in your skin.
Like most skin treatments, the goal of the procedure is to remove the damaged outer layer of your skin, stimulating the growth of new skin cells and producing a smoother, tighter-looking appearance overall. However, laser skin resurfacing is far more precise and less invasive than procedures like chemical peels and microdermabrasion.
Using a targeted laser, Dr. Lefkovits will remove both superficial and deep layers of your skin that have suffered damage. Today’s lasers are safer and gentler than ever before, resulting in a diminished recovery time and less complications. Bleeding, bruising, and discomfort are all greatly minimized through laser skin resurfacing.
Typically, laser skin resurfacing is performed under local anesthesia with sedation. You will still be awake during the procedure, but in a relaxed state, feeling little – if any – discomfort. Laser skin resurfacing is a quick procedure, and afterwards, you will be provided with instructions on how to best care for your new skin.
If you live in New York and have further questions about laser skin resurfacing, please contact New York City cosmetic surgeon Dr. George Lefkovits today to schedule your consultation at Park Plaza Plastic Surgery. You can also reach us by phone at (212) 750-9494.

Quitting smoking within a short period of time is never easy, but if you plan to undergo plastic surgery, it is essential for your safety. Smoking seriously reduces your body’s overall supply of oxygen, making your heart pump more poorly and making it harder for your wounds to heal. Nicotine also clogs your lungs and increases inflammation. All of these factors can lead to potentially severe consequences, including:
- Tissue death
- Excessive bleeding
- Infection
Apart from healing complications, smokers who do not quit prior to surgery also face a significantly increased risk of cardiovascular problems. Since smoking shrinks your body’s airways, your lungs are more prone to collapse. According to the American Society of Anesthesiologists, patients who smoke before surgery are:
- 80% more likely to have a heart attack
- 73% more likely to have a stroke
- 57% more likely to suffer cardiac arrest
The good news is that smokers who quit for at least two weeks prior to their plastic surgery procedure have an average of 41% less healing complications, and this average goes up by 19% for every additional week of time that you are smoke-free before your surgery.
If you have further questions about smoking and plastic surgery, please contact New York City plastic surgeon Dr. George Lefkovits today to schedule your consultation at Park Plaza Plastic Surgery. You can also reach us by phone at (212) 750-9494.
