Am I a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?
Breast ptosis – the technical term for sagging breasts – is a natural consequence of the aging process. However, many women develop ptosis far earlier in life thanks to pregnancy, massive weight loss, or the effects of genetics. Low, drooping breasts can make you look much older than you really are.
A breast lift can solve this problem by removing loose, excess skin that has been stretched and raising your breasts back up to a higher position on your chest. The result is a tighter, firmer, and more proportionate bustline overall.
A good breast lift candidate should meet the following basic requirements:
- Age 18 or older
- In good physical and emotional health
- Not pregnant, and not planning to become pregnant
- Currently at or near your goal weight
- Have at least a moderate degree of sagging of the breasts
In cases where there is stretched skin combined with decreased breast volume a combined breast lift with augmentation will most likely be necessary.
You can still become pregnant after a breast lift, but a new pregnancy can compromise your results by stretching out your breast skin again. For this reason, Dr. Lefkovits recommends that you wait to have a breast lift until you are finished having children. This will help your results last longer.
