Breast asymmetry affects close to 10% of women. In most situations, one breast is slightly larger than the other. Some women may not even desire surgery since the difference is so minor. Unfortunately, other women suffer from more pronounced breast asymmetry that becomes worse as they grow older.
Asymmetry in the breasts can be effectively corrected using the following methods:
For some patients, the best results will come from a combination of these two surgeries. For example, a breast augmentation might be performed on one breast, while a reduction is performed on the other, giving you a more proportional look and a more desirable breast volume. Dr. Lefkovits will work with you during a personal consultation to develop the right surgical approach.
If you have further questions about breast asymmetry correction, please contact New York breast surgeon Dr. George Lefkovits today to schedule a consultation at Park Plaza Plastic Surgery. You can also reach us by phone at (212) 750-9494.

Every year, American patients receive over 4.5 million injections of BOTOX® Cosmetic. Despite its overwhelming popularity and history of success, some patients still have concerns about the safety of BOTOX®.
Like any medical treatment, BOTOX® comes with the risk for potential complications, but the vast majority of these side effects are minor, and the risk of suffering a serious side effect is extremely small.
Some of the side effects associated with BOTOX® include:
- Bruising
- Pain
- Infection
- Headache
- Temporary eyelid droop (less than 1% of patients)
One of the ways Dr. Lefkovits helps his patients avoid serious BOTOX® side effects is by thoroughly reviewing their medical history prior to treatment. Some medical conditions can prevent you from being a good BOTOX® candidate. If you have a condition that would make BOTOX® unsafe for you, Dr. Lefkovits will discuss alternative facial rejuvenation options with you.
If you have further questions about BOTOX®, please contact experienced New York cosmetic surgeon Dr. George Lefkovits today to schedule a consultation at Park Plaza Plastic Surgery. You can also reach us by phone at (212) 750-9494.

Preparing for a tummy tuck—or any surgery, for that matter—can be a stressful experience.
But by following the preoperative guidelines of New York plastic surgeon Dr. George Lefkovits and taking a few simple steps on your own, the day of your abdominoplasty can be an easy foundation for your rejuvenated appearance.
If you are a smoker, the most important thing you can do prior to a surgical procedure is to quit smoking at least two weeks prior to surgery. Smoking can increase your risk for complications, slow the healing process and contribute to unsatisfactory results.
Proper nutrition also plays a significant role in both maintaining good general health and recovering from surgery. Many people supplement their diets with multivitamins, however overdoing some vitamins can inhibit healing; it’s important to discuss any dietary supplements or medications you’re taking with Dr. Lefkovits prior to scheduling your tummy tuck.
Although abdominoplasties are frequently performed on an outpatient basis, you will need a ride home following surgery, and your mobility may be limited in the initial weeks following a tummy tuck.
It’s a good idea to have help available to you at home, as well as to make sure you have a phone, and recommended over-the-counter pain medication accessible to you.
Dr. Lefkovits will thoroughly discuss your preoperative guidelines and recovery recommendations with you prior to your tummy tuck procedure. With a little preparation, you can help ensure a stress-free, comfortable and effective tummy tuck recovery.
If you live in the New York City area and would like to learn more about your tummy tuck options, please contact Park Plaza Plastic Surgery or call us at 212-750-9494 to schedule your consultation with Dr. Lefkovits.

Before you commit to breast augmentation, it’s important to confront the fact that your breast implants will not last forever.
Some breast implant makers provide a 10-year warranty with their breast implants, and many women have reported breast implants that retain their appearance without complications for upward of 15 years. Some women have healthily maintained breast implants without the need for revision for more than 20 years.
Between 10 and 15 years, however, the chance for breast implant changes and the potential need for revision increase. Follow-up procedures to an initial breast augmentation typically address:
- Age-related body changes that affect the implants, such as drooping breasts
- Breast implants folding, rippling or wrinkling
- Breast implant rupture (more common among saline breast implants)
- Breast hardening or capsular contracture
Generally, saline breast implants are more susceptible to rippling, leaking and rupture, and saline breast implants may necessitate earlier replacement than silicone gel breast implants. Regular checkups following your breast augmentation will help ensure that your implants are intact and properly positioned.
If you live in the New York City area and would like more information about your breast augmentation and breast implant options, please contact Park Plaza Plastic Surgery or call us at 212-750-9494 to schedule your consultation with plastic surgeon Dr. George Lefkovits.

For women considering both pregnancy and breast augmentation, most plastic surgeons advise waiting until after childbirth and breastfeeding to schedule a breast augmentation procedure.
However, women who already have breast implants prior to pregnancy typically experience no related complications during childbirth and are usually capable of breastfeeding without problems.
Skin Changes with Pregnancy
With pregnancy, lactation and breastfeeding, you are likely to develop some skin laxity as your breast volume increases and decreases. This may or may not impact the overall appearance of your breasts, depending on your individual skin tone and elasticity.
While the implants themselves will likely not be affected by pregnancy, you may be unhappy with the changes in appearance that naturally occur with pregnancy. A breast lift may restore your pre-pregnancy appearance if this occurs.
Breastfeeding with Breast Implants
Your ability to breastfeed will likely not be altered by your breast implants.
In rare cases, however, certain types of breast implant incisions are thought to increase the risk for interfering with the milk production glands, and thus impede the ability to breastfeed. During your consultation with New York plastic surgeon Dr. George Lefkovits, be sure to mention if you plan on having children after your breast augmentation.

Women with breast implants should approach mammograms in the same manner as women who have not undergone breast augmentation: as a yearly procedure beginning at age 40, or earlier if you have a family history of cancer.
Due largely to unfounded fears about mammogram screenings rupturing or otherwise damaging breast implants, many women who have had breast augmentation are reluctant to get mammograms. There is also a misconception that breast implants interfere with the ability to receive an accurate mammogram.
Although the presence of breast implants can make the imaging process more difficult, mammogram technicians are adept at screening women who have breast implants thanks to evolving technology and the increasing popularity of breast augmentation. Mammograms on women with breast implants typically require pushing the breast implants slightly away from the breast tissue so a greater amount of tissue can be visualized.
Most mammogram technicians will ask you if you have breast implants prior to your screening; if not, it’s important to alert the person conducting your mammogram that you have breast implants so he or she can take steps to ensure an accurate screening. This can be done without excessive stress or damage to your breast implants.
In most mammograms of women with breast implants, multiple images are taken from numerous angles to provide complete images of your breasts. If your mammogram reveals irregularities, your technician or personal physician may recommend an MRI to obtain a more comprehensive view.

Undergoing the combination of plastic surgery procedures that can comprise a mommy makeover will not prevent you from having additional children. However, most plastic surgeons who perform mommy makeovers recommend that women wait to undergo these procedures until they plan to have no more children.
A mommy makeover entails a blend of procedures meant to help you regain a more youthful, shapely appearance following the physical impacts of pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding. Depending on your individual aesthetic goals, a mommy makeover may include:
Because each of these procedures is designed to provide long-lasting to permanent results, most surgeons advise women to hold off on a mommy makeover until they are finished having children. The physical changes caused by pregnancy can negate the effects of some mommy makeover procedures.
A tummy tuck, for example, tightens the vertical muscles of your abdomen. The natural stretching that accompanies pregnancy can cause those muscles to reseparate. Similarly, your breasts change with pregnancy, and these physical fluctuations can affect the results of your breast augmentation or breast lift.
While a safe pregnancy is possible following a mommy makeover, it may create the need for revision.

Although the services offered by New York plastic surgeon Dr. George Lefkovits at Park Plaza Plastic Surgery are aesthetic in nature, most of our procedures are also surgical and require high levels of accuracy and care backed up by an in-depth education and extensive training.
Recent stories about a Florida cosmetic surgeon linked to two deaths emphasizes the importance of researching prospective plastic surgeons and ensuring that you select a surgeon with proper experience in your particular procedure and who is also board-certified.
The surgeon in question operated a cosmetic surgery clinic where two patients have died in the past year after undergoing fat-removal procedures. Although the surgeon was trained in general surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgeons, he did not undergo the rigorous training that surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) must pass.
ABPS-certified plastic surgeons receive additional training and hands-on experience and must pass an intensive examination to verify their competence in cosmetic surgery procedures.
Dr. Lefkovits is committed to performing procedures that are safe and effectively meet your aesthetic goals. Dr. Lefkovits is certified by both the ABPS and the American Board of Otolaryngology, and he has more than three decades of experience helping patients from around the globe achieve their aesthetic goals through plastic and cosmetic surgery.

The Brazilian Butt Fill™ is an increasingly popular procedure for providing shapelier buttocks. Because there are varying butt augmentation procedures, however, many women have questions about just what a Brazilian Butt Fill is and the benefits it offers.
Following are some common questions regarding this effective procedure:
What is a Brazilian Butt Fill?
The Brazilian Butt Fill is a buttocks augmentation procedure that uses fat transplants to provide you with larger, shapelier buttocks.
How does a Brazilian Butt Fill work?
Using liposuction, excess fat is removed from another region of your body, such as your abdomen or thighs. The fat is then purified and uniformly injected in your buttocks to provide the desired shape and volume. The liposuction has the added benefit of providing additional body contouring in problem areas.
Am I a candidate for a Brazilian Butt Fill?
A consultation with New York plastic surgeon Dr. George Lefkovits at Park Plaza Plastic Surgery will help determine if a Brazilian Butt Fill can help you achieve your aesthetic goals. Generally, ideal candidates for this effective butt augmentation procedure:
- Are in good overall health
- Have definable goals
- Have realistic expectations
- Are within their ideal body weight range
What are the benefits of a Brazilian Butt Fill over butt augmentation implants?
Butt augmentation using fat injections is preferable to the use of implants for a number of reasons. The use of implants requires a longer healing time and a greater chance for complications such as displacement, infection and body rejection. The Brazilian Butt Fill technique, which utilizes fat injections, offers a number of benefits including:
- Natural appearance and feel
- No chance for rejection
- Smaller surgical incisions
- Shorter healing time
- Low risk of infection
- Improvement in contour of the donor sites
How long does it take to recover from a Brazilian Butt Fill?
Recovery time varies by patient, but most people are able to return to work and resume routine activities within a week following the procedure. Patients can usually resume more strenuous physical exercise within four to six weeks. Dr. Lefkovits will discuss your individual recovery guidelines with you prior to your Brazilian Butt Fill.
How long does it take to see results?
Although you will notice an immediate difference in the contour and volume of your buttocks after the procedure, the final results of a Brazilian Butt Fill are typically seen within two to three months, after your body has had time to fully heal and some of the injected fat has naturally reabsorbed.
Will I need retreatment?
Following the recovery period, during which a portion of the injected fat may be absorbed back into your body, some patients need or desire an additional treatment to achieve the look they want. Although a Brazilian Butt Fill can last for decades, there are a number of factors that will affect how long you maintain results including the aging process, weight fluctuations, and health habits such as smoking.
If you would like to learn more about the Brazilian Butt Fill or schedule a consultation, please contact New York plastic surgeon Dr. George Lefkovits at Park Plaza Plastic Surgery. You can also reach us by phone at 212.750.9494.
